About Public Relations Society of India, Kolkata Chapter

Founded in 1958, the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) plays a pivotal role in advancing public relations as a strategic management function and a recognized profession. Initially an informal body, PRSI was formally registered in 1966 under the Indian Societies Act XXVI of 1961, headquartered in Mumbai, with Mr. Kali H. Mody serving as its first President. Over the years, PRSI has expanded its reach, establishing chapters in key cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, and growing to encompass 22 cities across the country. The society aims to elevate communication quality and ethical PR practices through networking and intellectual leadership, adapting to evolving technologies and paradigm shifts in media and marketing. An essential part of PRSI's history involves the formation of 'The Public Relations Circle' in Kolkata in 1965, fostering dynamic corporate functions within the PR profession. The Kolkata Chapter eventually integrated into PRSI in 1969, contributing to the society's enduring legacy.
